English Language Proficiency (ELP)

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment is a mandatory ICAO requirement for all pilots and air traffic controllers who use radio communications in international or domestic operations.

In Australia, CASA requires you to demonstrate a minimum standard of aviation English before exercising the privileges of a flight crew licence or operating on the radio.
